The following Search for Central Library Sites will be advertised in the Ottawa Citizen, La Droit, and is posted to MERX (ref # 366777), Canada’s electronic tendering service.
The Ottawa Public Library Board and Ottawa City Council have approved the development of a new flagship Ottawa Central Library as a strategic priority. The new dynamic and inclusive Ottawa Central Library will be developed either as a stand-alone facility or as a joint facility through a potential partnership with Library and Archives Canada.
An inventory of potential sites within the Ottawa Central Area (illustrated below) is being compiled. The site for the stand-alone Ottawa Central Library facility must be a minimum of 3,720 square meters (40,000 sq. ft.). The site for a potential Ottawa Public Library and Library and Archives Canada joint facility must be a minimum of 6,000 square meters (64,500 sq. ft.).
